One of two landscape illustrations which I was commissioned to produce depicting Stonehenge for publication in a new set of guidebooks which help orientate visitors to the prehistoric World Heritage Site and its immediate wider surroundings.
The landscape surrounding Stonehenge is being carefully re-worked with the removal of the A344 road which runs in close proximity to the site. The overall ambition is to return the site to more peaceful, natural surroundings and improve the visitor experience and facilities.
A sensitively-designed visitor transit system will transport visitors from a brand new visitor centre to a drop-off point close to the Stones.
It was important that the illustrations reflected the stone circle and landscape accurately so I based my digital illustrations on 3D models which were generated from very accurate LIDAR terrain scans provided to me by English Heritage and Ordnance Survey.
